Wholesale pricing and landed cost explained

A method to compare offers and price your collection, without relying on a single number.

How the factory price is built

Fabric consumption times fabric price, trims, cutting, sewing and finishing labour, packing, overhead and margin. Details such as lining or embellishment add cost.

From factory price to landed cost

Add freight, insurance, import duties and taxes you cannot recover, broker fees, local transport and any inspection or testing. Divide by the sellable pieces to get the landed cost per garment.

Compare offers on the same basis

Compare the same fabric, trims, size run, labels, packing, shipping term, lead time and payment terms. A lower unit price on a different basis is not a better offer.

From landed cost to retail price

Apply a markup that covers taxes, returns, marketing and margin. Many fashion retailers use a multiple of roughly two times or more, but it varies by market and channel.
