How to prepare a tech pack for women’s clothing

The documents a manufacturer needs to sample and quote a style accurately.

What a tech pack is

A tech pack is the technical file for one style. It lets the factory quote, make a sample and produce the style without guessing.

What to include

Flat sketches of the front and back with details marked, a measurement chart with points of measure and tolerances, fabric and trim specifications, colours, construction and stitching notes, label and packaging instructions, and the size run with grading.

If you do not have one yet

Send reference photos, a similar garment and a short written description. The factory can build a first sample from these, and the tech pack can be completed from the approved sample.

Keep it current

Update the tech pack after every sample round and send the latest version with each comment. One version of the truth avoids production on outdated instructions.
